The Fucking Weather

Excuse my language in the title, but that seems the only adequate description for the events of today. First thing I did was go for a run along Sydney Harbor. It was pretty beautiful, though the cockatoos were much quieter than last time (probably because it was early). I started a little late because it literally took me an hour to get out of bed. Btw, Australian runners aren't really that friendly, only one or two people out of thirty or so said hi or waved. Bad running etiquette if you ask me. Flash forward. We're ready to hop on a plane from Sydney to Adelaide when a voice announces that all airport activity will be temporarily shut down because of an approaching thunder storm. We have a connecting flight to Kangaroo Island, and need to get to Adelaide, get our bags, recheck in, go back through security etc etc. Mom entered panic mode calling everyone possible on a cell phone that took forever to get (a story for a different time). She figures out a way that we could survive the night in Adelaide. We get there and enter rush mode, mom running ahead to seeming surprised that the men lugging all the bags (us) can't keep up. Luckily her diligence and panic got everything sorted out and we caught the plane. It was a nice small prop plane, and the ride was uneventful. My Dad and I searched for Kangaroos on the descent but only saw cows and goats. Speaking of livestock, ravens sound like lambs baaing raather than the harsh cackling caw normally associated with crows. We got picked up at the airport and saw our first kangaroo on the ride to where we're staying. I have attached a view from my window/porch. It is incredible!
Admit it, you're a little bit jealous

  1. Ok, I just caught up with all of your postings thus far. You're hilarious! Sounds like adventures in traveling. How did you not expect your mom to be upgraded for the first flight?! She has over a million flier miles!!

Sydney's opera house does look weird, but if you take the tour you see that there are many cool things about the inside, especially interesting for someone who has done performance and backstage work. (Me!)

Yes, the blue mountains aren't really blue, but in some weather the sky above them does have a blue-ish hue.

Glad you all got to kangaroo island and hope you have a great time! I'll check back soon to see more.

P.S. Tell the parents that I drove by the house and all looks good. We had a dusting of snow today, but it only stuck to grass so I didn't move Jonah's car.
